The vlogcast features Dr Patrick Harrington, Consultant Haematologist, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, discussing the development and progress of an My MPN Voice app designed to help patients monitor their myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN). The app, launched in April 2024, has over 300 users who track their symptoms and biometric data using a Withings smartwatch. Eligible participants include those diagnosed with MPN, aged 18 and above, and having access to a smartwatch. The app uses validated metrics like the MPN 10 Total Symptom Score and EQ-5D-5L to monitor patient-reported outcomes. Data security is a priority, with the study undergoing external ethical review and meeting required standards. The project aims to recruit up to 1,000 patients over five years, with a limit of 500 wearable devices. The app is currently available only in the UK, but there are plans to expand internationally. Early data shows a strong inverse correlation between symptom scores and activity levels, providing valuable insights for future clinical trials.
