In Conversation With … Dr Claire Andrews, Consultant Haematologist, St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin, who spoke to Nona about her role as haematologist in St Vincent’s, taking up the post 2 years ago. She told Nona that there is a large cohort of MPN patients in the hospital, with many different needs. Claire then spoke about the future for MPN patients in Ireland, and how the understanding of the biology of MPNs has improved, which in turn has had an impact on the management of MPN patients, and how more ANPs (advanced nurse practitioners) are in post who are focussing more on the symptoms experienced by patients. She also spoke about the gap in Ireland regarding access to clinical trials, which it is hoped will improve in the future.
This conversation took place at the MPN Voice Patients’ Forum in Galway, held on Sat 24 June 2023.
