The Young Patients’ Forum, for MPN patients aged 40 and under only, is an opportunity to meet with other young people, to hear the latest news on MPNs; managing symptoms; sharing knowledge and receiving information tailored to young patient experiences and challenges. You are welcome to bring a partner/family member/friend with you (maximum one guest only). The forum will end at 6 pm, but you are welcome to stay on until 7 pm to chat with each other.
The programme will include presentations covering MPNs in general; the research study of young patient experiences; lifestyle tips including schooling and career planning; fertility and pregnancy; psychological impact of living with a chronic illness; MPN patients sharing their MPN journey and a Q&A session. Plus breakout groups where ET, MF and PV patients can meet in smaller groups to discuss everyday challenges and swap tips. Plus a group where partners/family/friends can meet to discuss everyday challenges faced by the patient and themselves. View the provisional programme here (this is subject to change)
The speakers will include: Prof Claire Harrison, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, London; Dr Anna Godfrey, Cambridge University Hospital; Prof Mary Frances McMullin, Queen’s University Belfast; ANP Claire Woodley, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, London; Dr Helen Oram, King’s College, London, plus speakers TBC.
You are welcome to attend this forum regardless of where you live or which hospital you attend, if you are prepared to travel to attend then we will be more than happy to see you. You are welcome to bring a partner/family member/friend with you (maximum one guest only). There is no fee to attend, complimentary pizzas and soft drinks will be provided during the forum, drinks can also be purchased at the bar.
